uhh i bought something from a small business online, only 300kr but somehow i have to pay 266 in toll? i feel like thats illegal
ive been thinking about calling in and hoping they made a mistake, last time i bought something the limit was 500kr so idk what this is about?

has to be said i dont buy things much (esp not online), last thing i got was a vinyl and cardigan that was around 500kr and no toll price.

No there ia no limit now (but the 350 rule still halfway applies) so u have to pay mva and tollgebyr from 0kr now if the business is not voec registered (they collect the mva on behalf of norway (?) So u don't have to pay tollegebyr). And just yes, u can end up paying a lot , this should be fairly accurate tho

www.toll.no/no/verktoy/importkalkulator/

+Tollgebyr from posten, I think 150kr? So the price u have to pay seems fairly accurate

Oh lol it said yes, for example if u buy clothing, for 500kr (including shipping), the total price is 840kr. I would start checking if a business is voec registered before buying from them lol. Also never buy food from non norwegian stores

aah well i tried to check the site for voec but couldnt find anything so i guess not //:
and the only "food" items were herbs so im not sure if that counts? and a bracelet, that was all i got

this is so dumb ill just have it sent to my grandma in spain and have her ship it over. that should at least be cheaper i hope lol

150 is the flatrate for fortolling. Then import taxes come ontop based on the full price of the item. The 350kr limit was removed belated during the pandemic. This is, in fact, incredibly annoying and ye check the rrgisrert ouch talked about but just mark that u still might have to cover all of the price for return/changes of things as well. Norway rly is protecting its $$ atm so you'll def benefit from checking local options first. (you'll be surprised what u find if u put ur research socks on typ small retailers of stuff)

thanks @Eostre !

i would've bought local, unfortunately the items i got are too far for me to get, the travel alone would be 500kr.  /:

you don't pay toll to the person selling it to you though? you have to pay it to your toll agency in your country
or does it work so terribly different from the rest of the world where you're from?
