how did your parents take it?

I thought about working in a kitchen or a shop because I can deal better with this kind of stress than office stress and my mum is absolutely furious and telling me I waste my degree (that i don't even have yet).

your parents will turn around eventually

my mom was pissed at me for being a retail worker but eventually she was like ok ur my kid do your best where ur at

I exited retail 3 months ago but still I was in retail throughout most of my twenties

my mom didn't really care about my career choices while we were still in contact. going to gymnasium instead of vocational training and aiming for uni were all my own choices and goals. everyone on my mom's side is working those low-image jobs so. even i'm working at a restaurant/bar rn but at least it's a really fucking cool and okay-paying one. tbh i think it's beneficial to have some work experience in addition to school/uni. personally, it made me way more confident about my skills (and bullshitting my way out of anything lmao), asking for better pay etc

but if it's possible for you to try it out before actually quitting uni, i would recommend that. so you know if you would actually like it or not

i can't answer on that because i have not been in that situation (yet) but i think my parent would be fine with if it depended on my health and well being. don't forget that you do what you want, and not what your parents want! it's your life in the end

and you could always start working at an office later in life when you feel like you have the right state of mind for it. everything is not written in stone 🖤

If you’re mom thinks you’re gonna get a job based on your degree straight out of uni to begin with she’s low key dumb and unaware of how the world actually works ngl
