Popstar advice wanted!!!!

Okay so I'm set to start studying alongside working starting this week on wednesday. It's a long distance course with occasional real life classes/meets (about 3/month) and 2 digital classes /week. the course would take 2 years in total.
I have my job for the rest of the year, them my contract runs out, so this semester i would have to take time of (20% + additional days for the meets).
The meets are also in a city that is 6 hours away.

The more i think about it the more i dont feel like i can make it work, primarily for the 6 hours. I also do not really want to spend 2 years of my life on this. I'm still trying to get into the vet tech program and if i do get in i would have to iunterupt this education anyways.

SO here's the thing:
There is another vocational program for the same proffesion. It's 1 year long, ENTIERLY digital. It does not have live classes which might mean the education isn't as good, but also that you can plan your studies entierly how you would like which means i would not need to take any time off!
Its also costs  19k sek (1900 euros). You can also start it whenever you want.

Ive tried doing the math, and afterdeducting time off + travel costs + potential over night stays, it would cost me at least 10k. And i do have plenty of savings rn. I would also be able to use the education to get work faster to make up for it.

Is there relly any reason for me to stick with the first course option????
im gonna discuss this with my mom and i feel like she will tell me its stupid so i need some valiation in this

TLDR:

course 1:
-2 years
- in person meets 6 hours away 3x/month might have to stay over night at least once
- possibly better education
- have to take time off + pay for travels equivalent to at least 10k sek for this semster
- free, student loan/grants applicable (would only start using this year 2 anyways)
-starts wednesday im already enrolled

Course 2:
- "equivalent to 2 semesters" aka 1 year but can be done faster or slower
- 100% long distance
- Less hands on education/ only pre recorded classes
- costs 19k

Both are vocational and grants some sort of diploma, i sincerely doubt actual work places gives a shit wich one you took

question: Is there any real reason i should stick course 1?

so to answer from hi

@rottomilko
i would either postpone it which i dont want to do or take this alternative course

@Eostre
the reason why im doubting ill be able to make time for it is the 6 hour trips for in person classes. It is doable yes, since its only a couple of times, but would be very stressful and does not rly feel worth it. since classes start on wedneday that means 2 in person classes in a row which is why i cant really just start it and give it a go, because thats going to be kind of a big financial commitment

ive also already applied for time off at work, but i dont think my boss will mind putting me back at 100%

I feel like you will stress too much about option one, so that means option two is the healthier descision.

I would try to sign up there and if it doesnt work, you have a backup option. Maybe you would be able to work from home more

the onlt thing with option 2 is that if it doesn work out thats 19k down the drain

but yes i can always reapply for the first option next semester or email then and ask them to maybe put me in for next semester instead

also looking at travelling options and uh

direct bus only travels from 8:00 in the morning-- thats too late
if i wanna take other buses it would require like 4 changes of bus uh

nothing about this feels logical actually

Do you end up with the same degree for both?

Both are vocational courses so you basically just get a certificate of some sort and you’re able to say you have some sort of education on your cv

so yeah basically the same

If it's the same, and you don't mind using money on it, then I would also recommend course 2 instead. 6 hours of travel both ways is a lot of travelling, and while I always think the in-person education is better, it doesn't really matter if you're mentally and physically exhausted after travelling that much. Also the likelihood of dropping out is probably also much much higher. If it's possible to get a grant for it, then it's also a win-win, but of course not the important thing here.
