im so upset with myself
i was supposed to go to work today but i genuinely had no idea
my boss texted me asking why i hadn’t gone and that i was supposed to go today
i apologized and said i didn’t know and she responded saying i should’ve asked
i thought she would send me the schedule like she did last time
i know i should’ve asked and that im an adult and it was my responsibility and i feel so shitty about it i want to cry
then i asked if she still wanted me to go, a whole hour later lmao and and she said no

Once as a teenager I came to work when I wasn't scheduled and I was so embarrassed. Not that that has anything to do with anything but maybe you'd feel better if you knew someone else makes mistakes too lol

it seems like a simple mistake, but like i wouldve thought the boos should send it without having to be asked? makes total sense, but idk how it works at your job
hopefully your boss doesnt care too much, im sure its just the stress of being a boss or something. maybe itll blow over

but for now yea i get how it feels!/:

Ask about their routine around sending schedule, because usually it's the boss job to make sure to fix those things. It's hard to employees to hold track when to go to job if it's not 100% position and like on-call substitute.
My boss made same mistake and didn't put the schedule a day i said yes to, but she forgot to put it on the schedule app we use and week later I forgot about it and she called why im not at work - and i said i didn't know because of the app and came a bit late. But she understands it's her fault to forget to put it in the schedule app and it was okay.
Your boss probably knows she should've send you the schedule.

It's no problem, don't feel that bad about it even though I know it's not a good feeling.

Tbh it's really unprofessional to not give your employees the schedule ahead of time.

It's not the employees job to remind the employer of this kind of stuff. Sounds like bad management.

You boss also has a responsibility to make you aware of how you'll know your work hours if he/she does not plan on sending them to you every time.
Whether the schedules are in a folder at the office, hung on a board, or if you have to find it in any other way. It's not your fault that your boss gave you the impression that they send the schedule to you, bad you shouldn't take on that responsibility, especially not if you're new at that place.

she had all day to send me the schedule or text me since i was supposed to go in at 6 pm
seems she forgot and then tried to blame me for not asking like how am i supposed to guess if absolutely no one said anything. not even on my last shift; no one told me i was supposed to go in the next day

ty 🥲🥲 i am new at this job. it’s the first job i’ve had in a while and i’m getting used to the routine again. since i am new tho i really should’ve asked about the schedule but i can’t believe she just expected me to guess and then text me why i’m not at work when nothing was said?? like that’s weird

she sounded mad/annoyed through text which made me feel like crap
it makes me feel a little better knowing these things happen and it’s ok to make mistakes

She's the boss, she should know to inform you about such trivial things. But I'd definitely contact her and ask where to see your schedule so you don't miss a shift again.
