okay, so I have an ever-growing list but I'm also in my own echo chamber here so I need more of your recommendations for nonfiction books related to nature and culture across the world, incl. Norway and the nordics ofc!! rly need to read up on sami stuff tbh. (this also includes folklore (which I obvi prefer in fiction, just throwing it out there in case someone sits on anything amazing.)) I TAKE ANY TYPE OF TEXTS RLY so don't be afraid to offer up something "not quite into what you think I wanted" because I'll take a look at all the books nonetheless and refine bc i can't read it all.

I have read:
‣ a farewell to ice by peter Wadhams | climate change
‣ loved clothes last  | fashion
‣ food and climate change by SL bridle | food and climate change
‣ factfulness | geography trends
‣ braiding sweetgrass | native american
‣ go gently by bonny wright | typ zw book
‣ intersectional environmentalism | history of environmental justice movement in the US
‣ kunsten å ikke kaste mat | food lexicon
‣ the uninhabitable earth | climate change
‣ the sixth extinction | species extinction
‣ women who run with the wolves | female archtype mythos
‣ ace by angela chen | asexuality
‣ kiss the ground | regenerative agriculture

On my tbr:
‣ To Be A Water Protector by winona laduke | native american
‣ Mend by Kate Sekules | repair
‣ Lettkledd\velkledd by Ingun Grimsta Klepp | fashion
‣ Staying Alive by Vandana Shiva | Indian
‣ Sand Talk by Tyson Junkaposa | new Zealand
‣ Consumed by Aja Barber | fashion
‣ Sitopia by Carolyn Steel | food
‣ Fresh Banana Leaves by Jessica Hernandes | Latin America and the us (not sure about the specifics yet)
‣ the cost of living by arundathi roy | indian
‣ how woman can save the planet | gender equality? equity?

It didn't learn me much new since so much of the practical content relies on zero waste (meaning you can google urself to most of this for free). The history/facts are us based or more general claims as that is where she lives. She also have some interview w minority groups in it to expand on the perspectives, which was new. But not a large part. I love her person tho. So sweet.

Have you checked her gogently youtube channel and insta? Bc i sorta like that content better. It's all related ofc.

Like i think the main thing i want to say about that book is that it is based on the importance of individual actions. Many readers didn't like that because the mainstream is currently turned more toward large scalr action. But Bonnie Wright havr worked in activism for years so it is a logical step for her since she already has her foot in the larger actions. But the book is still mostly about individual actions. Personally, we all know i support them even tho we have to question the effectiveness at a point.
So like personally, don't love it. I listened to the audiobook on trial tho

A life on our Planet by David Attenborough is really good, and if you can get it as an audiobook, it's even better. I might actually be able to make a download link for the audiobook, because I have the file saved on my computer, if it is.

I am currently reading The Brilliant Abyss by Helen Scales (heh) and it's very good. I am very afraid of the ocean, and the book fills me with fear every time we go into the depths, but I honestly really enjoy the explanations of different animals living on the bottom of the sea, and I keep being impressed by metal snails and other stuff.

I have Eating to Extinction by Dan Saladino on my tbr, but will throw it your way anyway. Also The Hidden life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben.

One not quite fitting what you're asking for, but one I still will recommend is "Gopler Ældes Baglæns" by Nicklas Brendborg, it also has an English translation, if Danish is too hard.

A fiction series I'll recommend as well is The Winternight Trilogy, where the first book is named The Bear and The Nightingale. It's about Russian folklore, and is very much in touch with nature and old spirits, while clashing a little with Christianity.

Gender trouble or Undoing Gender by Judith Butler.

I've only read extracts from the first one, but her theories had  great impact on the theatre world.
