Getting a cat

Maybe dumb q but is it very irresponsible of me to get a cat despite being allergic?? ://///

Cuz like I realise that the ideal situation is to not be allergic but I've lived with cats before for longer periods of time and it's honestly NO issue for me that I experience some symptoms yeah. I don't react to all cats either. I'm not suuuper allergic generally, but allergic nonetheless. Sadly.
But like if I'm up for it, I know what I'm getting myself into, and maybe I can request to spend some time with the cat before I buy it to see how I react? Like even if I do experience symptoms I'm not gonna give it up. If I do experience symptoms I'm up for taking medicine too for all eternity if needed. If I get a cat it's mine forever, no matter what u know

Like it's my biggest dream in life to get a cat and has always been and the thought of never being able to just bc a runny nose and itchy eyes fucking kills me dude

Like there are ppl out there without allergies that don't even fucking take care of their cats properly or care much about them. I know for a FACT I will care for this cat with my entire heart and spoil it to bits and it will have a forever home with me. U know what I'm saying?

As I said.... a runny nose and itchy eyes... can I not get a cat just bc of that? Murder meeeeeeee

You should do research before but it's possible
meds, and a cat that doesn't have\produces as much Fel d 1, the gene that people with cat allergy are allergic to

as far as I know, this thing is present in their saliva so when they groom, and then shed their dandruff, then you have dandruff flakes around the house with the saliva that had the protein you're allergic to

there are cats out there that produce less of that protein but not a cat with 0 of that,
I know about the Balinese and Siberian cats, despite the long fur they have they don't produce the protein as much as other breeds

you have hypoallergenic cats, get one of those

but i do think it's not great to always have allergy symptoms it might run ur body down in the long term or something... idk i have hay fever and hay fever season is the absolute worst for me i cant imagine havingthat the whole year long by choice

if ur fine with the runny nose and itchy eyes part then i dont see why not. i dont think its unusual for people with mild animal allergies to own animals

My entire family is allergic to cats, yet we've always had one. You can always just take benadryl or alnok to treat the symptoms

Some cats are more allergy friendly and some are not.
I think you should  invest time to look up different breeds and talk to people that are allergic.
