I think you're safe as long as you don't touch them (which you shouldn't do to any animal unknown to you), so I don't think the issue really is that big

On the bright side, their bodies are unhospitable to rabies so you ain't gotta worry about that

I'm not gonna run them off, my yard has a horrible tick problem, and 1 of my 3 cats gets ticks so bad, no matter what preventative medicine I give him
and possums eat ticks

rabies is a big deal here with some animals, so definitely a good thing
plus, don't possums eat tick off other animals?

Edit: you were faster than me :d I've seen above, they do love ticks

have you tried bravecto?

It's not without side effects but I gave it to my cat when she had 20+ ticks every day

you have no idea the restraint it's taking me to not domesticate this possum baby

my vet has not offered it to me.
we use revolution, and it definitely cuts the number of ticks down on him.
I think the issue is that my cat is ENORMOUS, he's huge, he's heavy (not fat, just a generally large cat)
and they don't wanna dose him like a dog, but he is slightly bigger than the large cat dose
