A few years back I had this really good friend. Then he got a girlfriend that didn't like me (had never met her, so not sure about the reason) and gave hime the ultimatum me or her.

He told me he couldn't have any contact with me anymore. The last message before deleting me was something in the style of "you are one of the most caring, sweet and loving people I've ever met. And I wish you nothing but the best". Short story, he is a really sweet person into the bones. 

That was about 3,5 years ago. And I haven't in any way reached out and respected his choice. 


The thing is, I still really really miss him as a friend. I heard that they broke up about a year ago. And I still have not contacted him. But would it still be wrong if I did so?

I'm about 99% sure he isn't with the girl anymore. 

I just kind of want to tell him that I wish his life is going good. If he dosen't reply, then that is that. But would I be stepping over a line if I did so?

Maybe, but there is still that slight chance he still is with her.
Second, even if he isn't then he haven't exactly contacted me so maybe there is a reason for that.
And third, what if he gets mad?

if he gets mad then it’s just like that you don’t have to think about it more than that but u said that he was very nice so he prolly wouldn’t get mad for you sending a message it’s not like ur his ex that he has told off

I sent the message. I almost feel like I have a lump in my gut now...

He is the person who helped me survive one of the worst times in my life and I legit wish him all of the best no matter what
