do you feel like the person you're texting with is upset, angry, unfriendly or something negative like that if they're not putting emojis in their texts? or perhaps if they're using periods at the ends of their sentences if they usually don't?

If it's not what they usually do, yea sometimes i get that.

but it's also because the smiley serves as expressions for me, so it makes it feel less cold and humanless (???)

No

sometimes, depends on context and how well i know the person... in general i try to read text without emojis or indicators as neutral, but there are times when my spicy brain acts up. they're very helpful to me and i use them all the time to both express myself and to not potentially upset people on the other side. i'm mentally and socially disabled so calling out my lack of social skills can b considered ableism and it does sometimes hurt me :')

or trying to be serious lmao

It depends, if someone doesn’t normally use emojis i would just assume a neutral tone

I get this, also it's one of those silly things. But when I feel really bad, i cant make myself do smileys because they are so expressive and i feel empty.

It sounds edgy, but it's how it is.

yeah, i do the same   using emojis in that case feels almost like u r joking or not taking it as serious - tho i'm guilty of using emojis sarcastically when i'm trying to Cope With It™

hmmm, it really depends on who it is tbh! i have friends that never use emojies so i would not think twice about them being mad, but then i have friends that always use emojies and if they one day stopped using them i would be like "hmmmm somethings up"

I never typically use them so I'd consider it neutral

if it's a change from how they usually text i'd assume something negative, but otherwise no
