So I went to this backing sale organized by my mum's social club and I helped out as a cashier.
It was in this building where the library and this community center that belongs to the local church but can be used by anyone is located.
After the first wave of costumers left it was very slow so I asked my mum if I could leave my post for a while.
I was strolling around the almost empty community center and saw this very pretty lady setting up chairs and decorating the tables by herself. I asked if I could help and she asked if I knew where the table cloths are stored (I did bc I helped out in the center back when I used to go to church more regularly). She thanked me and smiled a lot and then accidentally hit me with the chair she moved out of the way to get to the closet with the table cloths. She apologized and touched my arm while doing so. I asked if I could help any further and she said she needs help moving the rest of the chairs from storage because she doesn't know how many people will come to the senior breakfast taking place the next day. I carried 6 chairs at once and she was like ohh you are so strong wow. I jokingly did a strong man pose and she jokingly whistled. We continued carrying the chairs from storage still laughing.
Then my phone rang and my mum asked when I would come back because more people showed up and she needed me to play cashier again.
I told the lady that I needed to go back but that it was very nice meeting her. She asked me what my name was and if I could give her my number bc I seem to know my way around and she is fairly new to the village. I told her sure and gave her my number. She asked where I was going g and I told her about the baking sale. She told me she saw it and asked who benefits from it. I told her it is for charity. She said she wanted to support it and asked if I baked anything myself. I did and she followed me back to the baking sale at the other end of the building. She then bought one of my Easter bunny cookies and told me they taste very good. We say goodbye a second time and she leaves.
Then my mom asked how I know the parish's social worker???
Turns out the lady works for the local catholic parish as like this person who organizes stuff for children and seniors like breakfast after church or kindergarten excursions to a service in the church. It's a job title but dict.cc didn't know the term. It also includes offering talking to people with problems and offering help and stuff.
I feel so embarrassed??? Bc my stupid brain thought that mayyybe she actually liked liked me 😭
