OK so long story short, I've been unemployed for a few months. I got an email today about coming in for an interview for a funeral home, except I don't have anything linking back to me applying to this place. I JUST told my bf yesterday that I'd love to work for a funeral home too. Their first email was kinda weird because they didn't actually say the name of the place, I had to ask them where it was for.

Anyway should I risk being kidnapped and go to this interview or should I not go and be sad about missing an opportunity?

Do it

I'll kidnap you back if they kidnap you

Make sure someone knows where you are, when you'll be there and make sure they'll know when you're done.
Sounds a bit dodgy, you're sure you just don't remember applying? Mixing it up with the lot of applications you've probably sent out?
But go for it, sounds interesting

I went through all the ones I applied to on indeed and it wasn't there. I checked my outgoing emails, nothing. I might have applied to it on something else but I don't remember.

there are like a lot of employment scams out there i would not interview with something i didnt apply to if it wasnt like a recruiter reaching outlike 'we came across your resume on linked in would you like to interview' like they should be clearabout howthey found you. when i had a scam reach out i asked where they got my resume and they didnt answer. and then i had a interview at a store that had reached out to me for an interview they were really clear about how they found me and my resume was like really specific to what the business needed. do you have some kind of certification that would make a funeral home reach out to you cause that would make it seem like more legit to me.

and thenthe other thing is like if these people are so stupid and unprofessoinal that their first email to you literally doesnt even identify themselves normally like even if it is a legit job thats the level of profesionalism you should expect from them and thats a huge red flag too.

ask for a video call or phone call (usual imo) also make sure that the address actually is a funeral home or you are interviewed in a very open public space preferably someone is waiting for you outside or in a car

also make sure to tell them that you are not alone and ask a lot about the job and the job picture/their career path

I didn't even consider job scammers  Please be careful

Is your CV uploaded to any third party recruitment sites?

Definitely do your research on the company prior to going (if you decide too) because it sounds a bit suspicious

Im looking for administrative assistant work and I know I applied to one posting for a funeral home looking for one but it has a different name. They told me where to go and I googled it and it's an actual funeral home.
Good point though, they had a few spelling mistakes in their latest email, but I think it's supposed to be one of the owners.
