it can strike low points too no metal poles needed jsut bad luck
water is a strong conductor if it hit a water pipe would it not travel

Same thing as ur tv doesn't get fried/broken anymore if its plugged in and thunder strikes uknow, but u would be in bad luck if the lightning struck right in the tv

oh we do have such powerlines actually lol 
but theres a reason u have to unplug stuff in thunderstorms tho right, like there a legitimate risk of stuff in your house being knocked out, bad luck required lol but still if you were to be indirectly directly connected to a power socket n your bad luck strikes would that not hurt you
