blonde hair

so im a bit of a noob to blonde hair and wonder if anyone can point me into the right place. if its going yellow what product would i buy ? and how often would i need to put on things to make it not yellow? and if i do my roots on my own would it matter if i got bleach on the blonde parts of the hair?

u see my hair is half/half colour. one side my natural brown and one side blonde. i never had it before.. its only been a week and a half and idk how much attention i need to keep onto the blonde

oh and conditioner absolutely necessary for blonde hair? bcus my hair dresser recommended to me that i use conditioner more on my blonde side than my brown. but it makes it more oily quicker and so expensive bcus it runs out quicker than shampoo 😭

a good purple shampoo will get the yellow out of your hair. i used the 'fanola no yellow' and i recommend it to everyone who has blonde hair.  only use the purple shampoo when you feel like you need it, otherwise it turns grey, maybe even purple/pinkish

conditioner YES!!!! maybe even a hair mask. if your current conditioner is very expensive, maybe buy a small bottle of a cheaper brand bc i used a lot on my blonde hair.

like i said, maybe buy a hair mask to help your hair repair. i also use oils like the Moroccan Oil and biosilk.

Never had blonde hair except to color it , but in general with bleaching yes it matters if you bleach the roots and get an overlap onto the blonde parts, the more u bleach the hair the more damaged its going to be, so when you get bleach onto the already lightened parts its going to damage those parts even more and u might end up with the hair breaking at the.overlap (if you are very unlucky, I've fried my hair.practically but its still not fallen off or any real breakage). Also yes if u want it lighter u would have to bleach, but I would rather use a bleach bath if you are already light and just want it a bit lighter, and then tone afterwards if its too yellow.

Also with conditioner, just depends how your hair.feels. bleached hair will tend to be drier and look damaged, so conditioner can counteract that to some degree. But if it feels ok its not necessary technically

god that is so cool, always loved that style but never had the guts to do it pfff
I don't have any recommendation for products as when I used to dye my hair it was like 5+ years ago

I can say that you can bleach your roots on your own as I did it, but be rlly careful not to bleach the hair itself as well if it is bleached already, it is damaged and you will be damaging it further,
I had to learn the hard way with a tuff of my hair coming off lmao
besides that to avoid yellow I used a toner after and it removed the yellow, though I was blonde only once, the other times were to dye my hair and try to remove as much yellow to use other colours

and yes conditioner is important for the dyed part because it is damaged and the conditioner is the products that sorta revives it? not really because that hair is dead and damaged but to maintain it so it won't be damaged further, unless it is not that dry and damaged, I didn't use more conditioner at first but after doing more work I had to lol

god I do not miss ruining my hair, having to have REALLY short hair, then waiting for it to grow back AA

aaa thank u guys so much this is all so helpful !. tbh my hair is still in really healthy condition bcus it was the first time bleaching that section of my hair. and what ever i did have bleached previously was always done at salons bcus i cant even cut my own fringe lol. i just can already see roots coming through and what i could get away with for 2/3 months previously, is looking like 4/5 weeks now and i cant afford that 🤣

i will try to look for better conditioner then because i definitely want to keep my blonde as soft and healthy as possible and will buy some purple shampoo!! i may look into the hair mask but tbh idk if its something i will do regular bcus i really just.. cba with my hair a lot of the time. but i may come back here if / when i decide to do so.

honestly if u dont wanna keep doing ur roots all the time get a root fade so the growout is less harsh kinda like a higher up balayage

my friend gave me the shampoo for lightening / correctly yellow hair. is there any time frame thats too soon to use it? is there any amount that is too much? apply just to ends or roots too? can i do anything if it makes my hair purpley?

nope u can use it whenever u want! for the most obvious results put the shampoo on dry hair but only on yellow bits so it doesnt go blue/purple
if it does have a tinge of purple it will wash out with a couple washes

toner is your best friend.

use purple to contrast it. and lighter shade does mean u need to use bleach for sure.,
