lego is never a bad idea, I asked my fiance if he wants me to preorder him this dune lego set since he LOVES dune and LOVES lego and He said no because it is expensive but he thanked me for letting him know of it's existance, so I went to the next thing he likes which is planes and tanks and am taking him for a flight simulation 

as for his family, I'm planning on baking some of my cakes and make decorations since his mom LOVES them just as I do, because they urge me not to buy anything but I wanna at least make something

besides that I got no close ppl that celebrate it T-T

lego is good gift! what other things does he like!

i usually think ab if i can remember thing my s/o or family has mentioned or talked passionately about the last year or years, or stuff i've been shown randomly by them that is like "omg look at this i think this is cool" type thing to give me a sort of picture of their tastes.

example concert tickets for 2 an example, trip to go see concert in other country, quality jewellery, homemade drawing and romantic letter, anime figurine from preferred anime, perfume (that i know she likes), art book by artist she loves.

last year i got dad ziggy stardust picture book and made david bowie pack of matches. sister i got earrings for wedding gift so i bough matching necklace in silver, sister husband cashmere scarf in wedding gift so i give him matching beanie from same brand. grandma i gave nice book that i write a lot of questions in, so she can write about herself and give back to me later.
