Based on your recs you might enjoy The Raven Boys?
Mysterious, vaguely dark-academic, gothic. I loved it a lot when I first read it years ago.

If you like old(er) romance classics, India Holton's Dangerous Damsels series. It's very loosely connected to older romances, but they're quite fun and whacky to read. Although a little unserious.

For dark academia-like books I'll always be a die-hard Babel by R F Kuang fan, but Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is also quite good. If you're into something very weird and don't mind a story that makes zero sense until the end, then Vita Nostra is an absolute must-read.
