that sounds like a really fascinating thing to study!!! are you applying to work with a specific professor, or just applying to the programme in general?
i don't think it is a waste of your time or other people's time. if people didn't want to help with it or didn't have the time to help, then they wouldn't have! it's that simple. obviously not getting the position several times is a big bummer, but i think it has helped you to grow as an applicant and i believe you will get it one day!!! that passion and dedication has to count for something!
i've been applying for positions that are open in the sense that you can propose your own project, i've in the past talked extensively with one of the people working at one of the universities so he's at least semi-interested in the project
it's just very draining because the process is extremely slow in norway, i even applied to a position in september and last week they emailed us like yeah we're not going to hire anyone this time..
i think my best shot was last year so at some point i will just need to accept that it was never meant to happen because there's always going to be someone who is more closely aligned to what they want to work with or more trendy in their interests in the field or have better grades than me etc., it just sucks to apply for super competitive things all the time and being close but still miss
did you already send in your application for this year? or was that the one in september?
wow that does sound so exhausting though, i can definitely see why you would exhausted about the process. it really sucks that it's so competitive like that. i think your perseverance will pay off someday though!
