Basically bc a bunch of the big religions think in some kinda way that we should take care of god's creation and all that. Being greedy and consuming a lot could be a sin arguably tho we gotta convince the big corps billionaires of that i guess

and religion is capable of bringing a lot of people together and sets standards on morals and stuff which could improve our chances

but yes there are also several arguments as to why it would not work like mexwall mentioned with the gods plan stuff among other things

im ngl I actually think religion is part of the reason why people are turning right wing and not believe in climate change if we didnt have religion things mightve looked different (only looking at climate change not morals). The only people I know who believe in climate change are either non religious or barely religious. We are living under politics lead by religion so yea we can only change if people look at the facts which religious people are not really known for sorry not sorry. Also as long as capitalism exists the earth wont heal

i mean if- sigh. it's difficult to talk abt religion without offending someone. but i also don't think religion has much impact on what we think about earth outside theoretical. prayers and thoughts unfortunately can't stop greedy humans from doing greedy human things. insert something about humanity being destined to fail because of their free will

yeah im just trying to figure out the connections here
i read somewhere in a paper that white protestant christians are the ones that believe the least in climate change which makes sense in a way but like , what would make them change their mind . . .. what roots their beliefs idk

but yes capitalism will be the end of us

my religious ppl all have wildly different takes on this, ranging from 'its natural fluctuations and they are just trying to control us' and 'we need a green dictatorship yesterday' idk

i dont think everyone becoming religious would do anything for the climate even tho most religions afaik tell you to take care of the environment but. a religious kind of reverence for the earth might do us good, like the kind of reverence you would have for deities
