my unpopular opinion is that i think that people who complain about all types of fanservice and spread purity culture everytime there is a character who shows skin or is suggestive in any form of media are insufferable and need to talk to real people so they realize no one wants to be their friend
love this take!
Ive had a similar thought when it comes to "queer baiting". Mainly in the music industry.
Im so frustrated with people who think that an artist has to be openly out Lgbtq+ to be able to contribute to queer media or be an activist for queerness
Queerness is still illegal or treated badly in most of the world and we definitely need more visibility by making people used to seeing gay shit!!
I get the argument that they're making money of it but I think that's much better than not showcasing it at all!! Especially when it comes to like the Kpop industry or any space that is very conservative
i just think that in general when it comes to chronically online takes they are from people who try to be morally righteous....not because they are trying to change anything or out of worry but usually just to talk down on people or have a feeling of superiority. God forbid not everyone knows about everything or that people in the real world are a lot more complex and have more nuanced takes.
