my daughter was born on july 15 last year, so she's about 8.5 months now
she's babbled for at least 3 months at this point, and has started to use simple words such as mamma, puppe (swedish for boobie), tat for cat - and she strings them together too! these past few days whenever she's wanted milk, she's looked at me and said "mamma! puppe!"
at the same time she doesn't seem to understand ANYTHING we say to her. like, at all.
my older kid, he understood what we said real real early. like at her age he would understand that "no, that's dangerous" meant that he wasn't supposed to touch that thing or whatever
but he never spoke
when he was 8-9 months old he still cooed, right? started babbling at around 10-11 months. he's 3.5 now and it's only just now that he's started to string sentences together. he also has a phonological speech disorder, so most people don't understand a word of what he says. which is really sad, because it makes him sad plus people tend to always take him for being like 2-3 and not nearly 4.
idk i don't know where i'm going with this
but it's interesting how my daughter seems to begin speaking before she even understands what we're saying, while my son is really a late talker but understands and knows EVERYTHING even from an early age
