I traveled to the US to meet someone for the first time (stayed a full month) and we'd never previously met in person but communicated for almost 7 years. He paid for my ticket and I stayed with him and his family, all went well for me. Trip was definitely a bit scary, as it was the first time I've ever traveled alone (not counting places within my home country).
I'm currently back visiting him for another 3 months actually, even though it's difficult, it's worth it for me personally
