i want a new litterbox for my cats
Solar

any recommendations?
we have always had an open litterbox which the kitties probably prefer but we moved into an apartment a little while ago and it's just too smelly ;w; every time they poop its a crime scene in here (which is also super bad when we have visitors ahh)

soo we're either looking for a closed litterbox or an automatic one, but automatic ones are lowk sooo expensive.. and i know some of them are dangerous so i'd have to very carefully consider which ones are safe and stuff
idk what do you guys have/think

i'd just get better litter if it's a stink issue

it's more so that they don't cover up their poop
maya just scratches the wall and moos doesn't scratch anything like a fool

Okay hear me out
If you take a plastic tub and cut a door shaped hole
You can flip it upside down, place the litter bin on the plastic lid

That will "enclose it", i added some carbon filters (for like fishtanks) to the inside, to help absorb smell. My cat really loved this as a scratcher too

I like tubs like this because theyre easy to open (even upside down)

Pros: really easy to clean, safe for kitty, not an eyesore
Con: if you put off cleaning, it smells like a poop bomb when u open it
Still has to be scooped daily, but you could cut the opening in the top to make that easier,,, and just put the carbon filters by the opening?

I also reccomend a plant by the litter, that will also help the smell

closed litterboxes help somewhat with the smell
i usually just spray the air a lil with an air freshener when my cat leaves lol

U can also sprinkle a little bit of baking soda in the litter when you chance it to help absorb some of the odor

dont ever use an automatic one!! they can  be a risk to your cats i saw so many horror stories of people saying it malfunctioned and their cats got stuck or it closed on them and suffocated

noo i know but there are automatic ones that do not have this risk, just have to be careful when considering which one ur getting
some don't close off when they clean themselves so cats could always get out

i just ordered this, it has a carbon filter tho idk how useful thats gonna be

i was gonna get one of those that are entry from the top but i dont know if my older cat would like it. the problem with this is gonna be that one of my cats sometimes pees upright instead of crouched so im gonna have to clean the walls often -_-

I just hate all litter boxes that are super closed and the cat has to basically crawl into

ive used similar one as the one remains showed but I wouldn’t say it did much for my ibd cat

id try changing litter (if they don’t cover it it might also be that they don’t like it) or put in some activated charcoal sand sprinkle litter deo thing
