I wanted to share a little personal update with you all.
I recently found out that I have a benign meningioma in my head. It is mainly pressing on my left optic nerve, which is causing the vision problems I’ve been having with my left eye. It is also lying against the optic chiasm and some important blood vessels. There is also a small cyst near my pituitary gland, but it is probably harmless.
Yesterday I had my appointment with the neurosurgeon. My surgery is currently scheduled for October 14th, but if an earlier spot becomes available, it could be moved to September 29th. We’ll know more next week.
The surgery will take around 3 hours. I’ll probably stay in the hospital for around 5 days, including one day in intensive care. I have to be admitted the evening before the surgery. After that, I’ll need around 2–3 weeks of rehabilitation.
If the surgery is on September 29th, I would normally expect to be home again around October 5th. If it stays on October 14th, it would probably be around October 19th. This can of course still change.
I’ll probably be a little less active than usual over the coming weeks, especially around the surgery and during my rehabilitation. I’ll still be around when I can and I’ll let you know once I know the exact date.
Thank you for understanding. ❤️
