When i got regular braces i could not eat after a few days they fixed it and i had to go the dentist all the time to cut the iron string.
It was poking a hole on my mouth and it hurt so much!

I had the Palatel expander before my first round of braces, then maybe 2 years later I only had braces put back on because I didn't use the teeth mold plate thing to keep my teeth from moving again (if that makes sense) and then after the second round they put a small piece of wire at the back of my upper front teeth to put them all in place. idk if that actually worked tho

I have a permanent retainer on the back of the teeth of my lower jaw. Had it for 16 years now because insurance doesn't pay to remove it and it keeps stuff in place. The glue on one tooth came loose a year ago anc they charged me 30€ to glue it back on.

Also it all comes down to insurance (probably). I think these cost several hundred euro and insurance only covers part of them in combination with traditional braces so adults are usually out of luck

also got retainers but only way later in life cause my parents said i dont need it and its too expensive but i did indeed need it.. they are still straight but over time they still move a bit and they are not perfectly straight anymore aedgnäedfsedgsed
