The MS Estonia ferry sank as it was crossing from Tallinn to Stockholm in 28th September 1994, killing 852 people. A 1997 investigation found that the ship's bow door locks had failed in a storm. But new underwater footage appears to show a previously unrecorded four metre (13ft) hole in the ship's hull.

There were 137 survivors. (source)

So im really curious on your speculations. What do you believe happen? Was it a submarine? Was it military good on the ship? Did the government hide anything? Why was the bodies never returned home? Why did they wanna burry the ship in rocks?

I've watched the documentary and it just left me speechless. I hadn't heard about this accident before this.

They probably didn't look enough. The side where the hole is was towards the bottom before but due to the soft ground it has moved some degrees making the hole visible.

I'm sure there's something covered up here.

What always get to me is that the guy talking on Estonia.. the last thing he says is that it really doesn't look good. And you can hear alarms going off and it's just.. horrible. It really is awful.
From a linguistic perspective I find the multilingualism in the calls very intriguing and to me it's evidence that we need to strengthen education related to other Nordic languages because this would have been so much worse if they weren't able to communicate in languages they were comfortable speaking in. I think that if you are in a situation like this and you're only proficient in your native language or languages very similar to your native language it's ideal if you can communicate with someone who understands you. I understand everything but the Finnish conversation (so far, I'm working on learning Finnish).
But yeah.. sad.. Sad. Sad. Sad. I need to stop thinking about it.

It was a boy, i believe 7 or 8 year old who died at that ferry with his mom. 3 probably more kids

I don't know if I'd describe it as calm, and also, panicking doesn't help. I think he was well-aware of what was going to happen. If you're interested there's also videos about the morse transmissions when Titanic sank - that's incredibly absurd to look at (with text naturally).

My dad has allegedly been on that ferry because it operated around Vaasa for a while so he has crossed there a few times and yeah.. it must be so weird? When I was in Helsinki last year I saw one or two of the ships that helped in the situation and I stood there like it's really weird that they're still in operation because it's been a while.

Says pretty much the same as the documentary I watched with 5 episodes and 5 hours in total ish.

I literally just put this on my watch later because i was suggested it.

I don't think there is much doubt that the actual reason for the sinking was the door ripping off. Is it possible they don't wanna lift it or save the bodies, to shield how big the damage really was.
