Hmm interesting. I like some calatheas but they are very fussy plants and certainly not something you have if you know you are away for extended periods of time several times a year. @Alam
I heard they're really fussy from multiple people but mine is doing great so far, it even has two new leaves unfurling. Cross my fingers it'll stay that way.
Hmm maybe you live in more suitable conditions, I certainly can not have one. The one I bought need to be watered thoroughly at least once a week, that's just not going to happen if I leave for my hometown. And it straight up tries to die on you if you water it too late then it's like sorry it's already too late I'm wilting goodbye
I guess I've been watering it on a good enough schedule, I honestly just feel the soil every day. As for humidity, it's pretty hot here so I almost always have the ac on which makes everything dry as fuck so I just spray it with water whenever I feel like it. Guess it likes that.

Wow really, how long were they outside?
Maybe an hour and a half, two hours? I don't know, maybe I watered them too much? Or not enough? Here's what they look like right now, they're all droopy and sad.
x
What the hell
I know! It's so upsetting, ugh! I mean, it was 32c out today so it shouldn't be this fussy, maybe because the pot is metal it got really hot... I don't think I watered it to much, I really don't know what went wrong!

Idk my watering schedule is adequate, the issue with calatheas for me is that they cannot under any circumstances be forgotten, I think during moving I left it without water for about 10 days or so and two of the leaves literally died, and it looked really miserable. It was possible for the plant to recover, but I figured I'd take it back to my hometown and let my dad have it because it's just not going to enjoy the life it will have if it is in my care constantly. I'm not in a time or space in my life where I'm willing to be home every single week of the year.

Sadly I don't know anything about having plants outdoors, although I should look into it as I have a balcony now. Naturally, I cannot have any plants that won't handle the weather up here lmao

So what can you have? Ferns of something? They seem like they can handle the cold but honestly I don't know.

Well, it was fine when I left so I don't think it's likely he'll completely forget about it, I'll see what it looks like in about a month

There's a lot of plants that can handle it but they're native to nature like this, I'll have to look into it but stuff like ferns might be plausible as they grow around here but yeah I don't know actually

Does your dad have a lot of plants? My dad isn't really into plants, or anything, but my grandad (well, both of them but one is dead) likes plants a lot. He's been tending to his garden a lot since lockdown. He used to have strawberries and cucumbers growing in these weird tube things on his roof but it's a lot to go up to the roof every day so I don't think he has those anymore.

I found this when I looked it up, I don't know if this is accurate but a few of those plants look pretty cool.

Those are the bell peppers? Looks sick!

Yep, those should make some eventually :> Also, the structure of a bell pepper is quite close to a flower/technically a flower.
