Well deserved, it's a nice way for the community to show their appreciation for him and respect. Sure, in any other race Sainz or Norris would be great candidates for dotd but not now, not this race.
True, that crash was so scary

Its a fucking miracle that that lad is still alive from the crash damn
Yep, I've cried a lot today. I started crying again seeing the community vote for him as dotd and ofc I did so myself as well, I have so much respect for Grosjean and he does not deserve anything like that, literally no one does and it's horrifying.
We should be really thankful for all the safety improvements the sport has seen, and I think people who aren't into motorsports should be thankful as well because improvement in motorsports means that regular cars get safer as well.

I've seen a lot of crashes, because youtube keep having them show up and I'm too curious. Not even lethal crashes in F1 has looked as awful as that. I'm convinced that if this had been pre-halo he would have died crashing into the barrier, the halo provided the extra protection needed. Had the halo been used back at Suzuka I think Bianchi would have only suffered minor injuries and survived.
I hope Bahrain change the barrier at the spot next time, it was not ideal. Luckily no one died this time.

Also the marshal running over the circuit to help extinguish Checo's car?????????? Idiot! Fucking idiot. He could have died. The fact no one died today is just shocking.

Well, I've only played like F1,Need for Speed and there were these cool series of the racing games called TrackMania, don't know if you've ever heard of it, but I absolutely love it, it's so addicting and I still play it sometimes on my computer.

Well it was the major one that is among the absolute worst crash in F1 history, commentators of many broadcasts said it's the worst they've seen as commentators, the Norwegian one had commentated on F1 since 1997 and nothing has been like that. I've seen a few crashes before, some of them lethal, this was just.. I sat watching it anxiously fearing that he had died, I was sure he had because it was just.. Thinking about it fills my eyes with tears like it's like taken out of a bad car movie, they never explode like that. Once they showed footage of him being alive and seemingly escaping only with minor injuries left me crying for a long time.
I don't know if there has been any updates other than the one about him having minor burns on his arms and legs, I will be surprised if that's everything. I suppose this was the end to his F1 career as he's out of the team after this season and only 2 races left, next one being on Sunday and I can't see him recovering from this fast enough to participate, and the Abu Dhabi one is mid-December I believe, which I also think might be too close to today for him to have recovered, and that's ignoring any mental aspect of it. Grosjean has crashed brutally before, but never like this. This was unreal.

There was two? other incidents in the race but nothing as serious as this, without counting the marshal who ran across the track to extinguish Perez' car which they are never supposed to do and he could have been ran over by Lando and no.. just bad. bad bad.

He's notorious for crashing but like.. this?? Horrifying. Also, from my point of view, he seems like a really really nice guy and it just.. aaaaaa. So sad.
