This is really the first time I've ever watched the election updates & I'm very invested. I watched a little last time but I was only 15 so I didn't know much or care as much. I still didn't want Trump, though.
This is reminding me of the time in first grade that we had a mock election and I voted for Obama so my parents screamed at me for an hour dhsfdjk
yea i been doing this for twenty years now watching results
2000 was wild and that set me up to expect nonsense in the future.
in 08 was my first time voting and then i was in grant park in chicago where obama accepted that night
that was the first time i ever felt like 'i get it. i get why people are proud to be american' his kids were there and they were young and cute and there was a nice old black woman- a stranger next to me and we had hugs and i was like i get it. im proud in this moment of how far our society has come and that the people chose obama's message of 'hope' and 'change'.
fuck.
This should've been my first time voting but college work has taken up 99% of my time and thinking and I didn't realize I missed the registration deadline. I feel super horrible about it but I needed my parents to help me and I didn't know my SSN so I couldn't do it by myself, and then my sister told me that they were intentionally letting it pass me by because they knew I wouldn't vote for Trump, so they weren't going to help anyway.
