That sounds like the perfect size, I should look out for a smaller one.
I hear they grow like weeds. They're just so funky, I love them despite being kind of basic. They look like alien plants, like, how'd they get so round?
Hearing it be described as a tree makes it sounds somewhat more appealing to me. Like, I want a damn tree in my room? Who doesn't? I've been eyeing our avocados waiting for someone to eat one so I can propagate the pit, I've been wanting to grow an avocado in my room for a while, hopefully it's sunny enough for it. I have a west facing window so that seems like a lot, hopefully it's enough.
I was confused at first as to what you meant by vien, I think you meant vine lol. Yeah, I hear argyraeus grows incredibly quickly as opposed to the exotica so I think you're doing fine. I'd love to get an argyraeus, they're really cool looking.
Sounds like it's recovering if it's getting new leaves, might not be getting enough sun or something considering the leaves being smaller than usual but I don't know much about monsteras or really anything so don't listen to me.
It's okay, I actually appreciate it, I like keeping up with the threads I'm active in but it's a bit hard considering the top corner thingy only shows three recent threads. It also makes it feel like I have friends that want to talk to me, so that's nice.

I've only seen them in rather small pots here, like.. 12 cm? Yeah 12 cm sounds right. Mine is growing like aggressively it's insane. I bought it in January, had to up-pot it in April because the roots were just.. insane outside the nursing pot. It has again started growing out of the nursing pot but we are entering winter so I don't have to stress with it. I've seen most people want to have it growing upwards, to ensure that the leaves get large, but I quite like it as a more.. hanging plant tbh. Hopefully it limits the growth a bit as well.
Yes, peperomioides, I didn't remember the name and just went with one of the common names I've heard for it in English. Mine is very small, like 5 cm? pot or something. It is in theory root-bound but it still gets new growth so I want to like hinder that it gets massive immediately.
Yeah, I didn't intend on buying one because I thought like ugh boring but it looks stunning alongside my furniture, in its pot, and with the other plants. Also, for being a tree it doesn't drop leaves that much and that's a huge plus imo.
Yes, those. Mine are amazingly happy tbh, like my argyraeus is getting so long, if it starts hanging over my TV I will have to cut it back, and give those cuttings to a friend of mine and she seemed really happy hearing that's an option. My exotica is quite new, when I bought it it wasn't really veining at all so when I returned home after 3 weeks in my hometown and saw that it is starting to vein and hang downwards?? Happy!!
My most miserable plants after being left for 3 weeks is my monstera (but to be fair it was miserable to start with as it's still angry about being left for 5 weeks this spring.. Some of the leaves are just horrible and will die, I'm sure. But it has gotten 4 small new leaves during summer so I know it will recover with time and actually not thirsting to death lol
(Sorry for tagging I just don't know how frequent people check the FT threads lol)
I find it so cool that some plants can grow under artificial light, I don't know why.Alam wrote:
I really want a rhaphidophora tetrasperma but I only see them sold in big-ish pots and I don't have room for that shit. I know they grow pretty quickly but I mean, I could always propagate cuttings and give them to people I know. I really want to be that person that just, gives you plants.
By chinese money tree do you mean pilea peperomioides?
There are so many scheffleras down my street. they are honestly one of the most boring house plants to me, but I see why people like them.
By silver pothos and satin pothos do you mean scindapsus pictus exotica and argyraeus respectively? Those are lovely, I have cuttings of an exotica propagating in water right now, the leaves don't look too happy (they're all curled up) but I bet once they root a bit more they'll be fine.
When I travel home for Christmas I'll have to leave a light on to ensure that my plants get some light over those weeks, because yeah.. absolutely no sun for almost a solid 2 months might be heavy on plants. Snusmumrikken wrote:
Idk I bought it today so only time will tell, I bought it in hope it will eat some of the small flies that are here.. idk how it handles the arctic winter.. we'll see.. They sold it here so I mean if they sell plants knowing well they will die the 6 weeks without sun?? Rude? Although I have seen some plants who demand a lot of light sold here and I'm like brUH
Anyway let's think..
I have:
Dieffenbachia tropic snow
Dieffenbachia Marianne?? Maryanne?? I think that one
Monstera deliciosa
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma
Chinese money.. tree?? plant??
A small schefflera, idk if it is a specific sub-species or just small..
ZZ plant
Snake plant
Some kind of snake plant resembling thing that I separated from my mother's motherplant
Peperomia.. raindrop?? teardrop?? idk some drop thing
Silver pothos
Satin?? pothos, it's like the silver pothos but brighter and with larger leaves
Neon pothos
Chinese evergreen Maria
Venus fly trap
@Alam
Rude is putting it lightly, if they're selling plants to people knowing they will most likely die that's just fucked. I mean, people should know better but they don't so they should take that into consideration, innit?Idk I bought it today so only time will tell, I bought it in hope it will eat some of the small flies that are here.. idk how it handles the arctic winter.. we'll see..
