A Whimsical Field Guide To October

Today marks the start of spooky season 😈
Let's take a look at all that life has to offer us this month!

The colours of October
Our monthly colour palette consists of the colours orange, ocher, wine red, plum and rust.
The birthstones of this month are opal and tourmaline.
October's birth flowers are marigold and cosmos.

October skies
This month is mainly ruled by the zodiac sign Libra, which rules from
September 23rd to October 22nd. The zodiac sign Scorpio takes over on October 23rd.
With Libra at the helm, October is a month of balance, harmony, beauty and connection!

There will be plenty to look out for in the night sky over the coming weeks.
The Draconid meteor shower will be most visible around the evening of October 8th into
the early hours of October 9th.
Later in the month, the Orionid meteor shower will light up the skies as well,
reaching its peak around October 21st to October 23rd.
So you have more than one excuse to spend an evening looking up this month! : D

October's full moon is traditionally called the Hunter's Moon.
On October 3rd, the moon enters its third quarter.
The new moon starts on October 10th.
The first quarter of the moon starts on October 18th.
And the full moon will be at its peak on October 26th!
