Gosh I was really disappointed by Shadow & Bone too! I really loved the first book, and the second book was just painfully boring. I didn't connect with any of the characters except for Genya, and by the time I was about to start the third book I just gave up.

However, I'm super excited for the Netflix show. I think it's going to be a million times better than the books!

Also, unpopular opinion, I really don't care for the Darkling lmao. He's literally just a villain to me, I don't even think he has that sexy redeeming quality.
Book 1 was actually the one I disliked the most. Afterwards I kept reading for Nikolai.

I'm also very excited for the Netflix show! There are many people who were already able to watch it nd said that it was rly rly good and I hope the show will be able to live up to my expectations.

I think the idea of Alina & the Darkling together sounds kinda cool. Like this whole 'light & darkness' thing but idk as I said before something about this man being +500 years old doesn't sit right with me.

I had a break of almost 6 years and I recently became an active reader again, so it's always there and waiting for you <3

Nikolai is okay, but he wasn't enough to redeem the series for me. I only kept reading to be done with it and even then I gave up  But I do think he's funny, and definitely one of the most interesting characters.

@Crawk Definitely understandable, and a great reason as to why audiobooks are so important! And remember - listening to audiobooks is still classified as reading, don't let anyone tell you it's not

@Angelica  Ouu it sounds like you've found some good genres! I'm not really familiar with either genre so I don't have any recommendations I've actually read in that alley. However, when it comes to romance I've heard quite a bit of good things about "The Hating Game" and "Red, White & Royal Blue," however these are both more on the side of Romantic Comedies / Romcoms. If you'd like to branch out, "The Bridge Kingdom" by Danielle L. Jensen is a fantasy romance which includes quite a lot of politics, and is set in an area heavily affected by the climate/weather present on and surrounding said area. Perhaps it'd be a nice combination for you! It's currently on sale on Amazon kindle for $2,99 if you're into e-books. Can be read on a phone/tablet through the kindle app!
I checked out all, i feel like The Hating Game expectially could be something i like, so i added that too my books list! I mostly read real books to be fair, I find reading in a physical book is more peaceful and easier in a way! 💕 Ty for the reccomendations

I've heard so many good things about it, so I hope it will be a book you enjoy!  And yeah no worries. I totally understand that. Reading a physical book is quite different to ebooks.

For sure! I tried though, kind of wish i could enjoy it more, because of the bigger "Library" but it works!

see there was one chapter (from the second book I think .. maybe.. honestly can't remember) where he showed up in her room that had be intrigued and then I was just out.

by the end all I cared about was if the cat made it out alive ffs
(spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't read it)

pretty sure that's the first book? I was intrigued for a second too but when he was revealed as the villain I was like oh ew okay I'm out
That shows up in bedroom scene was something tho
I am torn between having them as evil rulers and the og ending
