Bonjour everyone!
I would like to begin by thanking those individuals whom had made the step to take the time to vote for me into the next round of this election process, even if it’s a tad odd to have an election for an administrative position. I know some of you may have voted for me due to the fact I am a friend, but I would like you to take the time to read everyone’s reason for taking the position on before deciding in this round. I am strongly against the role being taken up as a popularity contest as many have shared so please take your time when voting.
To the many of you whom have been waiting to read some commentary about me to place me in the scheme of things against the other candidates, please take the time to consider all candidates. Give them time to respond. Look at how they’ve been over the course of their time on this site. Could you see them holding the position? Etc. I would hate for you to vote for someone that is solely based on their friendship with you or the fact someone else had voted for them– it’s your call for this sort of thing so please make it actually count. Admin on Virtual Popstar is considerably different then what a typical Admin on a site should be considered so I’m going to project my answers for both if that makes sense since I do believe the position could flourish to more administrative than a glorified moderator in the future if Kaj and Kim feel as though they need additional assistance in running this server.
Needless to say, my name is Theresa, but please call me Tess. I’m 23 years old on January 4th, 2017. I currently reside in Massachusetts, USA which means I do follow the Eastern Standard Timezone. I fluently speak English though I do have basic knowledge of Mandarin and French. In addition, I’m currently a full time graphic designer for a healthcare solution business that is based in South Africa but has a newly established branch in America. I am also a mother. As for general habits, I enjoy coming up with ideas and general improvements for user experience; that’s something I love doing whether someone finds it rather annoying. I have always been someone to follow the rules on many of the sites or servers I have been a part of so naturally I do see myself fitting for the position.
An admin position is nothing new to me. I currently manage several sites, excluding my own portfolio site, as an administrator but these are for static sites and on the coding side of the equation. You can check those at: sillysallys.com, sillyacademy.com, adoptafosterchild.com. I’ve been an actual community admin for numerous servers that my fiancé has created for Minecraft; those communities have ranged from 10 to 50+ users. I’ve been a Facebook page manager and group admin for years. I was also a moderator on GoSupermodel Cosmo server managing several of the departments along side other moderators. I’ve held secretary position in my high school’s SkillsUSA chapter, worked for Corporate Security, Risk Management, and Fraud Protection and mentored Japanese students around Boston. If you want more on my professional background, you find all of that information by clicking here.
In relation to Virtual Popstar, I started on here the day this server was produced on December 27th, 2012. I have not been around constantly due to personal reasons such as finishing up my degree, occupying my time with various other responsibilities, a pregnancy, handling five jobs somehow in the midst of all of that, etc. However, I have held many of the badges previously – a moderator, event team, news team, designer, and youtube team member. I’ve been more active recently since I’m trying to figure out how to preoccupy my time that is more productive than sitting around staring at a TV in my free time. Virtual Popstar has a lot of potential to grow with the new admin in place that can really work with Kaj and Kim to impact the community for the better–it could also go the opposite direction with this election since the volunteer admin role has access to various controls that may not be suited for everyone.
As for me being Admin, I plan to work along side Kim and Kaj to help improve what currently issues we have on this server such as the translations that haven’t been updated in the Javascript. I’d also would like to update the rules to fix the contradicting matters between the Rules and Consequence threads making sure all moderators, Kaj, and Kim are on the same page when it comes to those issues. I’d also strive for more functions as Admin or for the moderators after Kim and Kaj trusted me fulfilling the current needs for the role since they may not have all the time to assist every server needs – such as code uploading, handling inappropriate usernames, inappropriate blogs or profiles, etc.
I’m always for enhancements on Virtual Popstar especially when it comes to user experience. Any owner should want their users to be able to understand how to use the site without much hassle which has a lot to do where things are located in the hierarchy of the site. I plan to start coming up with ways to improve those interaction with user flow and logical reasons for things to be where they are. Of course, these improvements would not be the first thing on the list to tackle with the VP app being established but the owners should focus on creating the actual site more easier on the user first before the application. I would like Virtual Popstar to flourish into a site that is more enjoyable than just the community and the clothing items that exist.
I’m typically patient and not biased, but I do find my blunt habits and the fact I really love challenges to be the route of my flaws when it comes to things. In my own opinion, I take initiative too often, asking far too many questions for my own good, applying for things for my own amusement, rather selfish and will definitely prioritize my family before VP as it should be. I do take a lot on my plate but it should come as no surprise. I’m brutally fine when things shit hits the fan which doesn’t always seem like a good trait to possess.
So that’s where Tess stands and I'm not sorry this is rather long.
Feel free to ask me questions.
