I think the other point is, they might get more items they want, bc higher ig and/or if the alternative is closing anyways, then extra stuff ig shouldn't mind.

some ppl have spent fortunes on items

I remember this old ratskeleton BT set that was very low in game and then bt got new members and some ppl were like damn why r u still giving that out its super old and now the value will change or smth 
that was quite strange bc like u can see that its a team set

It's something I've seen said in older threads when it's been brought up (by people that are still active). Of course people that may have spent year(s) trying to get an item, won't want that item to suddenly increase by maybe 30+ in-game
