I know discord bots pretty well I'd say, the help that I'd require would be more so to act as a bidder (and have a good 5 to 10 people join) for a good week to see that all is working and to simulate something
I think I'll make a separate thread with a poll, asking people who'd like to join and help check if it can be something viable, and on the way ask if people would be interested in that

I won't mind the "extra work" as it'd be only maintaining the bot, and updating the bids from there here, which is pretty similar to what we do now? instead of update from a server, we update from singular posts here
With all due respect, how does this improve how things are running now if you still have to update the threads anyway?
Bots are great for automating something like an auction, we have it here on the form of the monthly auction, it's not a bot but a code that automates stuff
It would mean we only have to look at the bids from the bot and input them here, as people would be able to see the top bids at any moment with a command,
But sadly the problem with that is that it's not the easiest thing to learn for everyone.
I understand the use of bots and how they work, I mean if everyone couldn't join a discord server and the forum still needed to be updated with highest bids, that's still the issue of the forum not being updated.

Can FT members still update any of the threads in the FT section? Might be worth asking them to help so there's more people who can update it?

the idea was to make the server and bot the main and only way to bid, making the forum with highest bids mostly informational, seeing as we won't have to update the bot, the work would be the same, but not everyone would be able to join or would wanna so it defeats the purpose.

Hmm, that's a good idea, can be brought up with them! and yes they still have threads in the FT section, it is indeed worth asking about that, thank you!

Idk if this idea sucks but if I made an auction thread i would use docs, bc google docs have the feature where you can send a request to edit the page and the only thing the auctioner would only accept the edits (the bids)

I think the emails also stay anonymous if thats an issue people would have (usually there is like "unknown" *insert animal* when someone asks to edit) but to be fair someone technically could bid for someone else? so it isnt fool proof, but could work if we could trust everyone to write their own username and not someone else's

I'm thinking, why make it all more complicated than it is? There is no need to do much extra with Discord or documents. Why not keep it simple with one thread each week?  It has worked so far - we need to keep an eye on the thread more often, and admins need to update it.

I was about to say that, unlike discord it is not fool proof, and I'd say way more complex than the other idea, I'd hate to mess with that

I said a few posts ago that the idea would not be used though.

and that is why, I also wrote "Why make it more complicated" the threads have been working so fine, with a lack of updating it and a lack of us checking the newest bid.
