Then again, how else are mods supposed to be chosen? I mean... I don't think kim is that active on this server to know the users and who is trustworthy/responsible... unless previous mods chose them but that could lead to some problems as well (especially if previous mods were not that great for some reason or another?)

I dunno this just sounds messy af lol :/

I actually prefer the ideal mod to be someone who is not that, let's say, "popular", on vp. I kinda feel like some mods were chosen based on favoritism, and they'll likely judge the users based on favoritism.

ahhhh i'm not sure how i'll feel if new mods are picked by the users. it'd be just a giant popularity contest then. but at the same time it would stop people from complaining
That's exactly what I was thinking too... I think it's fair to say that the vp community tends to conflate the qualifications of popular users over qualified users every once and a while, so I can see that happening in this scenario as well :s

I agree with you on that, but I wonder how else mods can be chosen when kim seems to have such little interactions with vp users, and the more popular vp users are usually also the most well-known and therefore well-trusted (regardless of if they want or are capable of doing the job sometimes??).

last time people complained about favoritism since the new mods all seemed to be friends with the old ones :/ so I guess next time's gotta be different?

Then again, perhaps mods that are seen as qualified and respected by both vp users and kim should have the ability to recommend users? Not choose perse but recommend candidates from vp as they have more incite to what being a mod entails and that would be really helpful? Of course, a lot of their friends might get recommended, but if they are reliable and trustworthy/capable mods then I don't necessarily think that even a friend recommendation necessarily will be done only because of favouritism?
And because they are simply recommendations, the vp community can have the chance to vote for/against those applicants to ensure more fair and less biased choices?

I can't tell if I'm making sense since I"m getting loopy from lack of sleep but hopefully I am hahaha
