It tells us what people's strengths and weaknesses are with dealing with people. It wouldn't be ideal if everyone wasn't great at the same thing and a problem like that arose and now no one can really deal with it. It also gives us an understanding of what areas can be worked on, so I'd say it's pretty useful

my answer to my weakness: i tend to put a lot into my work and struggle with work life balance and will do someone else's job if they slack off.

i've just given you a second peice of positive information about myself using the weakness format. it's a lousy question. people hate answering it and it doesn't actually give you the information that you think you're asking for.

protip: don't do that at a real job interview. you're doing it wrong if you don't use the weakness quesiton as an opportunity to say something positive about yourself.
