I get that they want to hold on to their intended age group, but I think it's not the way to go. If you want to be successful, you have to listen to your customers instead of holding on to some dream. You have to be flexible.

Finnish people surely know Varusteleka. They are a store that sells military surplus. They started as an online store and now they have their own bar and store as well. They are a star example of how a successful business works. They constantly listen to their customers, they have polls for customers, they always try something new. Their whole business model is "customers first". If your customers aren't happy, you won't make any money. That's what happened with gsm. I don't want to see the same happening here.
The thing is, we listen. We acknowledge the age group that is here most of the time, but we háve to acknowledge the fact that younger children can join as well. The only thing changed, is the fact that we make the rules here the same as they are on the Dutch server, which is a really normal thing to do since this server is the sáme website and should therefore have the sáme rules.

Keeping in mind that younger people might join, makes us aware of the fact that some rules should apply to everyone and will help create a safe environment for all ages. VP's layout lures younger children in as well and we don't want them to all of the sudden open a topic which has sexual content in it (or instance). We see your age group, but we can't un-see theirs, which is listening to our customers. You're not the only ones in this community!

I don't know how many young kids there are here compared to us older ones. But maybe you should find out, and if the clear majority is older users, maybe then you should try to market this site to older people, thus changing your intended age group.

This kind of stuff happened in gsm, it made the older people leave. Ofc there were other problems, like really strict moderating, but anyways, beware of turning into gsm.
