For those who don't know already, a moderator is someone who helps the site, who is the safety measures, who are the support system, who are the connection to the administration. That is the main purpose of a moderator. However, each website has different sub-responsibilities for moderators. On virtual popstar, you should try to get along with everyone on the site. Be a role model to the best of your ability. And try to keep user interaction active. We are the main reason a newbie may stay on the site since they know they can get a question answered.
Generally, we would say you are a police cop but that is not how we intend your position to be. We do not want you hounding every single thread and dictate rules forcefully. You are to be friendly but enforce the rules. This doesn't mean allow your friends to get away with a rule they broken. If you are uncomfortable punishing a friend, ask another online moderator to do it for you. You do not have to put yourself on the spot.
On top of that, harassment is a huge issue especially when it comes to a moderator since if someone is harassing mod A, then Mod B times them out this can be seen as a 'letting mod A get away with something' when really mod B is seeing this attack as harassment. In this case, ask the admin to look into it since an admin is above you and can administrate over this harassment. This is to protect your safety and well being.
As a moderator, we intend for you to follow the rules as well. You are no way above anyone else. You are a person who helps administrates the rules. Your position is not for popularity at all or a badge(en.virtualpopstar.com/layout/nl/images/mod-icon.png). If you are here for just those two things, you do not deserve the position. If the administration took away your badge but not your powers, would you still do your job? Probably not if it were for those two reasons. So do not take advantage of your position, your coworkers will take notice.
As a new moderator, you may be worried about messing up but this is a natural thing. It is okay to make a mistake from time to time. If you do just make a thread explaining your error. However, this does not include leaking. Leaking is spreading of confidential information about members and our threads within the forum. You are to up hold the privacy rights of what is said within Our category. You are not allowed to tell friends about other members possibly bans or the fact a user is being an egg head. This should be common sense.
We are a team and must work together. You have to try to get along with one another even if you may have a disagreement over a rule or a decision made by someone else. You should trust someone else actions. If we all make different reasons for someone's punishment, we will not work as a team. If we all do not come to a conclusion upon an answer, we will not get along as a team. If someone intentionally doesn't corporate with the rest of the team, we will not get along. We will judge one another and become very biased between sides. Please try your best to get along with one another whether you actually like the person or not. If this were real employment and getting paid money, you are going to have to learn to tolerate one another or you risk being fired. Simple as that. If you have an issue with someone, tell them. No harm in that. If you are uncomfortable talking to them directly, please mail an admin your concerns.
Please get to know the rules upon your stay as a moderator since these are what you will be living by:
• On Virtual Popstar, we prohibit insults, bullying discrimination or menacing other users. We don’t tolerate sexual discussions as in sex, cybering, etc! You may talk about your sexual orientation as long as it follows the rules. The rules must be followed everywhere on Virtual Popstar. (Forum, chat, private messages, blogs, etc.)
• No spam is allowed. Spamming is the act of sending repetitive messages, post, threads, messages, etc. Also begging/asking other players for pd and credits is not allowed
• You must place links where they lead. If you place a misleading link, we will immediately delete it! Also, you can expect an official warning or time-out.
• For your safety, you may not give personal information (address, surname, phone number,etc.) to other players including friends. You never now whose behind the computer!
• For a misplaced topic, we will notice you. We hope that you will pay more attention the next time. We all are humans who make mistakes, so it's not bad. Please try to keep the topics in the right categories.
• Depreciating someone is not allowed!
• Posts and shouts that contain pornographic material will immediately be removed by the moderators. The person who does this will receive an IP ban.
• You're allowed to tell your opinion about Virtual Popstar, but keep it clean or you can expect a Time-Out.We welcome ways to improve our site in the Ideas forum so feel free to us there!
• Bullying anyone with diseases is an automatic warning! If you continue to insult them multiple times after your warning, you can receive a Time-out.
• Videos or pictures that content is too scary will be deleted by the moderators.
• A topic in another language is not allowed. The moderators will immediately remove and send you a warning.
• Advertising another website is not allowed. Advertising VP on another website is
• Weight topics are not allowed because it can have an impact on individuals in a negative way.
• Blackmailing, bribing, etc. is not tolerated on Virtual Popstar.
Also, here is a quick explanation of your tools:
TO/Warning Management: This is where you will make punishments. You will need to search the username then administrate the warning or time out. Please keep in mind out minimum time out is 2 hours.
Reported Messages: Users will send reports to this system that will allow you to take action immediately instead of them mailing you directly.
Chat Lounge Management: This will show you a list of all the chat lounges open on the site. They will consist of user history where you can delete them if necessary.
Shout Management: This will show you a list of shouts made to the website. You will be able to delete shouts.
What you do have access to:
•Record Label threads. (Please do not post in them unless necessary.)
•Deleting/moving threads.
•Creating chat lounges, as well as restricting them for levels.
•Deleting Shouts.
•Giving out/Canceling Timeout/Warning
What you don’t have access to:
•Seeing Designer/NT threads
•Deleting/Editing Profiles
•Seeing other user’s mail
What you earn as a moderator:
•A badge (http://en.virtualpopstar.com/layout/nl/images/mod-icon.png)
•100 cr monthly which can be used to get yourself manager or purchase items in shops.
•Appreciation from users for your help.
