I made my first blog - about the screenwriter & director, John Hughes
I'm looking for constructive criticism about what I wrote (admittedly, it's not my best work as I scrambled it together a little). Whether it's that I wrote too much/less gifs etc. etc. ?

Not all blog posts shall be like this, some may be creative writing - others may be on another topic of interest of mine such as, idk, fandoms or something.

Feel free to leave criticisms / what you liked / ideas for future blog posts. I'm really looking to be able to progress my writing ability over christmas as I start doing a lot of creative writing and article writing in college in the new year, and I need practice <3

- As I said earlier, it's a little mashed together as this topic is what I'm currently doing a piece of Film coursework on. I found a lot of great facts about John Hughes but there isn't really a place for them in my work and so I decided to share them here, as a way of getting them out of my head <3

------------------------------------------------------------
Other Post Topics:
Languages (this idea isn't very fleshed out yet but can include things such as; which languages are easiest or hardest to learn & why, most spoken & why, regarded as the most beautiful, history of certain languages, beautiful words hidden in the English Language etc. etc.)
- Cartoons (There are few recent cartoons that I actually like - but I am still a giant cartoon fan. I was thinking of writing a post about some of my favourites & why and also highlighting which of the modern cartoons I do actually like)
- Comics / DC & Marvel (There are multiple areas this could go - for example, I could do mini biographies of certain characters, why I like them etc. - There could be how they differ from the comics when transferred to tv/film etc.)
Fandoms (kinda self-explanatory haha. Can be from reviews, to sharing about my favourites etc.)
Anime + Manga (similar to Cartoons & Fandoms)
Astrology x Astronomy (not completely sure on this one - especially as the Sun Sign articles covered most haha. But if there's stuff that people still want to know, I'm open to write about it)
History / Mythology (I'm a big fan of both areas. Especially Mythology. I wondered about mini biographies or something for Roman/Green god(desses) etc.)
- Creative Writing (This one I'm also not sure about. But I'm looking to practice my creative writing before and was considering posting some short stories/entries here.)

These are just topics that I'm considering and the list is likely to grow <3

I'd love to see you write more about films, maybe different art styles of different directors and how they impact the viewing experience?

tysm!
oo I plan too haha. Atm, Film is one of the areas I know a lot about.
Hm, I think I can do that. For me personally, the areas of John Hughes and teen films like that - such as Easy A & 10 Things I Hate About You - are what I know best and enjoy the most. However, I know a lot about genres & areas such as Animation (not just Disney but Studio Ghibli - Dreamworks etc.), Film Noir, Hitchcock + his Horror films.
In my class at the moment, we are learning about World Cinema too - we just finished Female Empowerment. After christmas, we are moving onto Urban Stories.

Director-wise, my main two are Hughes & Tim Burton. I know a lot on Hitchcock from my film class too. However, I'm always willing to look into new directors & genres. I feel like I probably watch a lot of the same directors but don't always realise haha.

I find Tim Burton is a good one in highlighting differences in viewing experience + art styles - especially with his use of dark, muted colours. I feel like it could be good to compare his animation to another such as say, that of Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki - largely because, to me (as a wimp), I found it to be a rather creepy yet magical film. It's a feeling I get with a lot of Burton's films.

Not sure if this is what you meant or not haha - sorry I keep giving long winded answers.
(I keep thinking of stuff I wish I'd added to my Hughes blog post.... )

SERIOUSLY !? o.o

I'm genuinely shocked haha. When writing this, I was like "maan this sounds like a wikipedia page. Am I doing this right? Will people find it boring? It could be hard to get into if they don't like the films ;-; "

oo really? are there any viewpoints in particular? :3

I never really think anything of it as it's just natural to me haha. This is just stuff that I talk about casually with my sister (who is a budding photographer, ex-media student & film fanatic xP) and with my film teacher.

btw, incase people are wondering what other topics I'm thinking of writing about - this is what I've got so far:
- Languages (this idea isn't very fleshed out yet but can include things such as; which languages are easiest or hardest to learn & why, most spoken & why, regarded as the most beautiful, history of certain languages, beautiful words hidden in the English Language etc. etc.)
- Cartoons (There are few recent cartoons that I actually like - but I am still a giant cartoon fan. I was thinking of writing a post about some of my favourites & why and also highlighting which of the modern cartoons I do actually like)

- History / Mythology (I'm a big fan of both areas. Especially Mythology. I wondered about mini biographies or something for Roman/Green god(desses) etc.)

None of these are set in stone and will probably change completely but, as well as Film, these are other areas that I'm likely to write about <3
