There are a couple of things that will get you instantly put on a time out, and there are things that can take a decent amount of warnings.

Instantly: posting porn, death threats to users, etc.

A couple of warnings before a TO: Searing in shouts/titles, harassing other users, etc.

A decent amount of warnings before a TO: Speaking other languages, etc.
