I gasped as I awoke. My head was pounding and my skin was covered in a cold sweat. I looked around and saw that I was positioned on the far side of a tent that mimicked a house, having more than one room. Scarlet was a few feet away from me, shivering and whimpering in her sleep. "Sc-Scar!" I spoke, my voice hoarse. I tried to crawl to her, but ended up collapsing in a fit of pain. I cried out as each of my muscles spazzed involuntarily. Worst of all was the pain in my chest that was causing me to cough through it all, blood dripping from the corner of my mouth. Suddenly, I heard footsteps. "You're up faster than I thought... hmm, maybe you're stronger than I anticipated..." The man who had harmed Scarlet entered the room and knelt by me. I suppressed my coughing as he studied me. "Well, you're still not strong enough." I spat the blood at him, but it merely ended up next to him. He sighed. "Here, hold still." He poked a syringe into my arm and injected me with a clear substance. After a moment, I felt the pain easing up. "Wh-" "It's anti-venom. I was using the same toxins as a deadly species of snake. You should be fine now. Your sister as well." I forced myself to stand up, though every inch of my body still ached and the serum hadn't take full effect. "What the hell do you want with us?!" I spoke through gritted teeth. He gazed at me with an expressionless face. "My mission has been changed. As of the moment you two leave, I needn't have anything to do with you."
