So, I figured we could do the RP itself in a different thread when we've come up with a decent plot. Otherwise, I feel like the thread will become too cluttered. Also, people that want to join this RP that have not been tagged; feel free to send an application to me after reading this topic.

As I've mentioned before I'd like a plot that is post-apocalyptic. Other than that, feel free to come with suggestions. Another important thing we need to make sure of is to write characters that have a reason to interact with each other. For example, making some characters siblings, coworkers, others perhaps romantically involved, or maybe exes, rivals even for added drama. Some may meet for the first time, but that can all be figured out when we've come up with a plot.

Also, I noted that most of you were fine with doing multiple characters which is great! I myself prefer having two main characters and a few minor ones if needed.

So, let's get plotting!

For a while I've had this idea of human race regognicing their problems a bit too late (= our planet has a lot of extreme phenomena and natural diversity has drasticly fallen, cilivisations are down and war/hunger have torn pretty much the hole planet). The "better people" decide to dehumanise the world by closing all of humanity inside a large metal bunker in the middle of Eurasia, and leaving the rest of the planet to heal itself up. However, this means almost all the people from developing countries or lower classes cannot get in the bunker, since the space is limited and rational decicions have to be made while choosing around 10 million survivors to carry on our species (some are needed for their genetics, others for their skills or expertice). After those 10 million people leave, the whole world will go bonkers, and if everyone outside the Bunker doesn't die from hunger, missions for killing outside humanity will be carried. Our RP could take place either during the selection process (trying to get in the bunker) or after the dehumanisation process has started, and people inside the bunker try to kill our characters.

I have this plot that might work too but I’m up for anything. I didn’t write it or anything so it’s not mine. It was just with a bunch of plots I’ve collected over the years.

In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a small band of individuals must band together to survive. Food and water are scarce, proper shelter hard to find, and many dangers lurk amidst the fallout such as cannibals, starved animals, and the occasional landmine. To add to the crisis, trust is an issue, and what happens when feelings take an unexpected turn?

I'm kinda dry in terms of plots, soz, but i like the ideas that have been brought up already. Mainly I think something the whole basic trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic and very dangerous wasteland would be fun (though potentially with a goal in mind, whether that's individual ones depending on characters or a group one, just so there's some driving force behind the plot?), and Camades plot/backstory for the apocalypse would probably work with something like that?

Combining them works for me. I’m pretty easygoing so anything you guys want to add or change is fine by me.

I think the whole bunker idea is very interesting! I got an idea. Maybe the apocalypse has made it impossible to live on land due to... well, maybe radiation or something? But some people seem to be immune to it, finding this out the hard way (believing they would die from radiation only to find that while everyone around them is slowly but surely dying off they remain nearly the same?). A society of sorts has been created above ground, but it's a complete anarchy. Resources down in the bunker are running low, so the newly created government in said bunker decide to create a project in which people that commit a crime in the bunker are sent out after being trained/experimented on to see if they can survive up on land. Problem is, every single one of them seem to die immediately. Except for our characters. Unfortunately, they don't make it back to the bunker to unveil the fact that the experiment for once worked, because they're kidnapped by bitter ground-folk.

Kind of the 100 inspired plot but hey.

Some characters can be from the bunkers and the other can be living above ground. Feel free to come up with other plots though this is a rough draft.

That one sounds good to me.

Yeah I really like that! It sounds, neato! I dunno then there's a reason for them to be out there and we can get a lot of character interaction with like people from outside vs used to be inside the bunker which is goodio! I like this *thumbs up emoji*

I just had too much coffee way too late but I got a lot of inspiration suddenly thanks to the caffeineand  I think this plot turned out quite alright if I do say so myself:

-

Earth has been nearly completely inhabitable for ten years now, and its population is a less than a tenth of what it once was. In the United States, the former government created a bunker that would be able to hold 10 000 carefully selected residents.

As the years went on, the government of the bunker realizes that the resources won't last for much longer. Starvation, lack of air and fresh water become a very real threat, leading them to come up with inhumane solutions. At first, there were volunteers. Promised a glorious afterlife above ground, just a few medical procedures away. Painful and horrific ones, all for nothing it turns out. As people started to realize the tests weren’t and wouldn’t work, they stopped volunteering, leaving the government no choice but to start a lottery.

Above the ground lay ruins of what had once been. The few people that seem to be immune to the radiation live in complete anarchy, where the fittest survive and the rest are disregarded like waste. Even for the immune, this is no easy life. Food and fresh water are scarce, and other threats such as animals and climate changes (hurricanes, earthquakes, forest fires etc.) are no strangers. Time is running out in the bunker, but no person that has been sent out has ever come back.

Until now. ”Batch 201” Ascend to what had once been known as the city of angels (Los Angeles) but is now an inhabitable desert. Strangely enough, the burning sensation that comes with radiation never struck, and they decide to look around, not having seen anything above ground for a decade.

This turned out to be a huge mistake. Before they know it, they are surrounded by survivors, that are, to say the least, upset, when learning that the government decided to save them and that they have been leading a seemingly normal life in comparison. Before having the chance of confronting each other, Batch 201 and the survivors are faced with an extreme hurricane and are forced to work together to make it out alive.

The explanation for the vaccine: The radiation activated a gene in some people that helped them against radiation. Batch 201 got a vaccine that gave them a dose of a similar gene which helped them survive the radiation to a certain degree.

But because batch 201 never made it back to the bunker, the scientists believed that the vaccine never worked. So, they made batch 202. An extension of batch 201, adding bacteria that made it so that the receivers did not only become somewhat immune to the radiation but activated genes that enabled a virus that causes unexplainable rage a few days after injection to develop.

Unknowing of this, the scientist assumed they had finally found a solution and while a couple of hundred people were kept in the bunker (just in case), most people wanted to take the risk to see the sun again. So, basically, the scientist created almost 8000 zombies. And it’s worth mentioning that this virus is extremely contagious.

-

Hope there aren't too many typos. Also, if the Zombie thing is too far-fetched we could totally change it, but I kinda like it. Feel free to add stuff as well.

Also, to clarify: by batch I mean 10 people who ””won”” the lottery and they try the 201 batch/version of the vaccine. As a group I called them batch 201.

So the bunker is located in North America instead of Eurasia? Just saying, that would be very bad planning by the government/united nations/some other people...

Well yeah, but it was a last resort. That’s why the bunker didn’t last for very long. I imagine this playing out a couple of hundred years into the future, nuclear wars etc would’ve changed the climate completely, not to forget; the governments resources would’ve likely become scarce. They know radiation will last for longer than 10 years so the plan was never to stay in the bunker beyond that but instead buy enough time to find a solution. But I welcome the critique and I think we could certainly change it to Eurasia! Kinda bored of having the setting nearly always be North America.

But I really liked yours so I thought maybe we could combine the two in some way?

I agree that at least having it set in like former Los Angeles is like too bad planning to be logical even in a crisis situation, seeing as it's close to the shoreline since the risk for natural disasters would be and considering climate change it might be like, flooded?

Some maps for location reference idk
I like the plot over all though! The only thing i'm really skeptical of would be the lottery thing, it's fine if they randomly pick people, I just feel like it might be a little silly if it ends up being like kind of the hungergames like in that regard? but that might be a lil nitpicky

You're right!

And yeah, I wasn't thinking an actual lottery like in the hunger games. On the outside, the leaders of the bunker may sugarcoat it and tell everyone it's in the hands of a random generator, but in reality, people are being selected based on their contribution level and importance.

I was actually thinking of making a character that has a place on the board (thanks to his father) that is picked out because of his loss in popularity. He doesn't really do much except spread propaganda regarding the vaccine and how "life above ground is days away!". But after 10 years, people have completely lost faith and he can't fathom the fact that he is part of Batch 201.

Yeah, I'm all good with the plot otherwise, just basing it in America didn't sound logical to me... So the "evil" is these zombie-ish creatures? Should we also have a bit more complex villian? Cause I really think it's more interesting to play if we have to also think of the moral and contradictory aspects of our villians...
