The ground rumbles. The sky tightens, turning a deep shade of red. The Vaarn’Kesh has begun. The arena itself is closing in, its invisible walls moving like a mouth, ready to swallow everything whole.
Sadbread sees the border flicker and tries to outrun it. They sprint through the dust, but the border is faster. It closes in, relentless. Sadbread vanishes into the red light.
On the hillside, Callisto spots Bexxi working on her shack. Bexxi doesn’t notice the border creeping closer. Callisto doesn’t wait. She runs up and shoves Bexxi forward. Bexxi stumbles into the red wall. The Maw takes her.
Far away, Glade is moving fast, but the ground betrays her. Her foot catches on a root, and she falls. The border catches up. She scrambles, but the Maw closes without mercy.
