Copenhagen didn't have a venue big enough, but instead of doing Eurovision in a smaller city (close to another airport) with the space for it, they decided to build a new place in Copenhagen to a ton of money, and it kept having problems. We do not use this concert place anymore, and today it's a climbing space instead (this was done 2 years after the Eurovision thing already)

we also had a weird small thing about how much denmark loves china in the middle of eurovision, and if it wasn't because I was joking wildly with a friend about it for weeks after, I would think it was a fever dream today

I lived in the other potential hosting city, so it was personal

YES IT WAS ??? IT WAS SO WEIRD. I just googled it, and not quite about china, but by the end of this one??? what happened
