well i don't think that's very effective

i've noticed that with people who i find not to be very smart but SEEM smart, they are just extremely confident in everything that they're saying.... even if you find yourself questioning the validity or logic of what they are saying, the way they double down and don't falter almost convinces u that wow maybe they are smart

i will say though that seeming smart falls apart as soon as u do ur own research on things then its like damn this person is just a court jester
