Make sure you keep the underneath thread kind of out of the way if that makes sense. It has a tendency to mess things up if you forget where it is, at least in my experience

I feel like I always did, but idk it's been years 
And also make sure you don't let the sewing machine go faster than you can move the fabric, cause if you like sew on the same spot it can get messed up too
