my dad's both parents died for cancer, in old age so it was pretty much expected...
then my aunt got breasr cancer when she was like 42 or something?? anyway she survived and she's doing well now

it's kind of scary to know it's pretty much very possible to me get cancer someday, i hope it won't happen until i'm 80 or something like that

my mother has (as for now, like I mean, maybe they will find a cure at some point) uncureable cancer (non hotchkin lymphoma)
buuut tbh it hasn't really impacted my life that much, like the thing with uncureable cancer (or at least just, idk, the cancer my mom has) is that it's way less agressive, so she has had chemo only one time (and she's been sick for idk, 7 years now I think?) and barely got sick of it
So idk, like mom's sick but she doesn't look sick, she doesn't feel sick
maybe that's also kinda the scary thing about it though

Like I mean, idk, through the years it started feeling like less of a big deal to all of us, when we just knew she was sick we didn't know a lot about it so we even thought she had to live maybe less than a year, bc the hospital wasn't very, idk, supportive?? like they were very very vague about it, so we all got scared, now she goes to a different hospital though.

No one in my family or friends or their families has had cancer (or other serious illnesses) so I don't think it has had an impact on my life

Mom had the beginning of uterine cancer but it was noticed early, Grandmom had couple months ago cancer in her stomach but the doctors got it out. Also one my relative had a brain tumor and she was in mental hospital her whole life because of it. Also my grandmoms sister had a breast cancer.

Three of my family members have/had cancer. One has recovered, one is still battling, and one died. The one who recovered is my mother in-law, and fortunately the closest one. She had uterine cancer (stage 4-5, I think, so we were pretty sure she was on borrowed time when she got diagnosed. I'm really happy she recovered!). However, she still has a lot of problems due to the treatment, so she isn't completely problem free.
The one who died was my aunt. Although not completely close, I think she was one of my favorite aunts. She always had a couch to sleep on every time I was on those parts of the country, and I really loved her and her spirit. Unfortunately she had a bit of Münchhausen by proxy syndrome in regards to her kids, and somewhat of a hypochondriac, so it was a bit of a chock when it turned out that she was actually telling the truth about her throat cancer, and how severe it had been. I'm really sad that I wasn't there to see her before she died. I wrote her a letter, and unfortunately she didn't get it before she had already passed (However, I had a dream a few weeks ago (although its been 5 years, and I don't really think about it that much actually) where I met a very sick and almost decomposed version of her, so I could tell her all the things I've written in the letter).
The last one, still in battling, is my uncle. Also throat cancer. Although obviously sad, I don't have any close relation to him, and he has been battling for quite a few years, but didn't take the treatment very serious in the beginning. He's also an alcoholic, so that doesn't really help him in his recovery either. I feel sympathy for all his siblings who is obviously worried about him, but other than that, it isn't something thats on my mind that often.

My grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer few years ago. She got kinda depressed during her treatment. However she managed to fight it. Now she only has one breast and she's still afraid that the cancer cells might regrow.

I'm glad that it was noticed early enough and hope that no new cancer cells will develop '-'

Ah.. also one of our family friends had pancreatic cancer. He didn't make it.

My mom had her thyroid removed a couple weeks ago due to thyroid cancer. In two weeks, she is getting radioactive iodine treatment to make sure all of the cancer is gone.
