Some items present here represents a domestic life. That dog? It represents faithfulness. Those little oranges? Fertility! And a fun fact though: that inscription right above the mirror actually means "Jan van Eyck was here"

friedrich lived in the area where I grew up and he used the nature there (especially the coastlines) as inspiration and reference for a lot of his paintings
