then ! he gets discovered by the people of tatarasuna and lives with them for a while, they even give him a name (kabukimono). shit goes down in tatarasuna as dottore gets involved and his friends die !
then ! he gets scouted by the fatui and joins them as a harbinger = scaramouche/balladeer
that is where we first meet him in the story (1.1 event with mona and up until sumeru)
come sumeru ! dottore has a genius plan to make balladeer a god, since his body was made to hold a gnosis so why not do it in the land of dendro when ei failed to make use of the puppet !
but the traveller gets involved and thanks to nahida, the balladeer finds out that dottore was the one responsible for what happened in tatarasuna so !!!!! with the godly power he just erases himself from existence (the irminsul) hoping to change the past and make it so his tatarasuna friends live. that does not happen, however. instead, everyone just forgets he existed. except for nahida and the traveller.
when that happens, he gains his anemo vision !
and nahida takes pity on him and decides to give him a chance to redeem himself, since all his bad deeds "have been erased". so he becomes wanderer !!! still traumatized, but he gets to live a normal life in sumeru while nahida funds his studies
