i miss the closeknit design community on the norwegian gsm. the somewhat exclusive club called vanilla (exclusive as in you had to be somewhat decent at designing). i miss my friends. i miss hurrying home from school so i could go on the family computer before my parents came home from work.

but i miss them in the same way i miss hanging out on top of the monkey bars with my friends when i was 10. i know i won’t experience it again because i’m not a child anymore

I think things like this can be enjoyed you just have to manage your expectations.

but the people obsessing over this won’t be able to manage their expectations. the problem is people have this vision of what gsm used to be and they want it to be the same. but it will never be the same because we’re not children anymore. i certainly won’t find joy in the things that kept me an active user all those years ago. i think the same goes for a lot of others but they don’t realize it yet because they’re too busy living in the past
and yet here we all are - including you - on an admitted gsm-knockoff site all these years later
