All experiemnts were kind of crazey before, like the unabomber being a subject in a mind control experiment while he was at harvard, n u can practically say he was scarred for life

I read the book a long time ago, but I think the experiment as a whole has been very debunked in a way, but still
yeah there were a lot of things wrong with it technically but overall i think it still is quite valuable to psychological understanding
Yes in a way, but nobody has ever been able to recreate the same stuff happening either in the same constraints of the original experiment
Makes sense, everything was wrong with that experiment

The closest thing that got to it was war prisoners, and I think american soldiers treating them very badly. Which, not surprisingly was very illegal

Absolutely.. But I guess it was at a time where there were no guidelines for right and wrong

Ooh I remember this experiment o:
--Not much though
I think we only talk about it briefly
This movie is pure fiction but it was interesting to watch, some of the hostages became the predators.

That is sadism!
Pretty sure they chose the guards because they had that sense of sadism to them during their interviews
A sadist or a person that shows signs to take control in the bad way, what could go wrong? ( Sarcasm )

If that hadn't been, clearly the experiment wouldn't have been as interesting

Its interesting how out brain works when it comes to dire situations. Would we hurt others if we where not put in a dire situation? How much would a human change as a person in  a dire situation?

Unfortunately, yes I think I would.
Considering the nature of the experiment, and the group of young men that were guards.. saying you would be able to withstand the peer-pressure is plain out bs
Of coures ideally you wouldn't, you'd be the strong one standing up, but realistically.. no
It becomes a moral dilemma, they knew that what they do is wrong. But if they dont they might be targeted by the other guards.
Exactly, that's why I think anyone would be liable to start abusing the inmates as well. Even if they would not want to, they'd feel pressured to.

Have you heard of the Milgram Obedience experiment?
It kind of also gives you an idea of how much pain one person can cause someone else, because they are told to.
